Dr. Marissa Fetherman graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 2010.  While in school she was class president, treasurer of student council, and an anatomy lab assistant where she taught students human anatomy.  During her clinical experience she was a chiropractic teaching assistant and started to gain her knowledge of treating pediatric and pregnant patients which she is passionate about. She gained valuable experience while going on a mission trip to Bequia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines where she was able to give her services to the less fortunate. This mission trip is also where she met her wonderful husband Dr. David Fetherman.

Prior to the opening of Spine-Ability Chiropractic and Rehab she worked at The Advanced Wellness Center in Virginia, a multi-disciplinary wellness center, where she worked with a multitude of other practitioner including physical therapists, acupuncturists, massage therapists, and nutritionists. She learned that there are many aspects to treating the human body.  She is an excellent communicator and is eager to listen to her patients and address their health issues.  She is especially interested in women’s health issues and treating children. She has experience and knowledge in many different chiropractic techniques including Diversified, Gonstead, Activator, Sacro Occiptal Technique, Thompson Drop, and Cox Flexion Distraction. She understands that each individual is different and it is important to find the technique that works well with the patient. She has helped raise awareness and educate the community about the benefits of holistic medicine through health fairs, expos, and community events.

Prior to attending Chiropractic College she earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University in Clinical Laboratory Science. She worked as a Medical Technologist for several years at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, MI. This experience and education gives her an extensive background in correlating laboratory results with pathological diseases.

Dr. Marissa Fetherman is very excited about having opened Spine-Ability Chiropractic and Rehab Center in her own community of Apollo Beach, FL. She lives here with her loving husband, wonderful young children, and energetic beagles. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, traveling, listening to music, and relaxing at our beautiful beaches.  She looks forward to treating our community and educating them on the wonderful benefits of holistic medicine.

Dr. David Fetherman was born and raised in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. During his senior year of high school he suffered a major back injury while wrestling. He underwent and MRI which showed a severe L5-S1 disc herniation and surgery was recommended. After discussing with his family, he decided to try the conservative route of spinal manipulation which greatly helped him and he remains pain-free to this day. He graduated from the University of Scranton in 1998 with a B.S. degree in Neuroscience/pre-med. While living in Pennsylvania he was an avid musician and played trumpet with many bands including a well-known polka band. Being an entrepreneur at heart, after graduation, he opened up his own ice cream shop, creating his very own ice cream by hand. During that time his father became terminally ill with lung cancer and went to his family chiropractor on a regular basis. His father's praises about how well he felt after seeing his chiropractor coupled with Dr David's personal success story lead him to further research the chiropractic profession. He found that chiropractic was based on the relationship between the nervous system and the spine which closely correlated with his background in neuroscience. This drove him to apply to Palmer College of Chiropractic, the fountain head of chiropractic medicine.

Dr. David Fetherman graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic, Florida with his doctorate degree in 2010. He is certified in all four parts of the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners as well as Board Certified in Physiotherapy. He has specialized training/certification in Neurodiagnostics including nerve conduction velocity testing (NCV) and needle EMG testing. He practiced in Colonial Heights, Virginia before moving to Apollo Beach, Florida in 2014. His clinical experience has been and remains focused on personal injury patients including injuries as a result of auto accidents, slip and falls, and work related injuries. He is highly trained in personal injury cases and finds considerable reward in helping patients recover from traumatic injuries involving motor vehicle accidents.

Dr. David Fetherman is excited to have opened his practice with his wife Dr. Marissa Fetherman and enjoys spending time with her and their beautiful boys. He continues to play trumpet and make homemade ice cream in his free time.

Reyes Cortez

Licensed Massage Therapist

Reyes moved to Florida from California at the age of 5 years old. Since then he has lived in the

Tampa area and has been a resident of Apollo Beach since 2015. From an early age he became very

involved in his Christian life as a Jehovah’s Witness. To this day he dedicates his spare time preaching to

others about the Bible and its contents.

When he was 11 years of age, he had fallen on his back from a swing set causing him to develop

back pain. After living with the pain for a couple of year, he went to get some tests done. It turned out

that he had a herniations in his lower back. After being treated, he realized that working as a health care

provider would be something that he would truly enjoy.

He graduated High School with a 4.6 GPA and since then has been looking to pursue a career in

a health care providing field. After going to Hillsborough Community College, he realized how

competitive it could be. After some long thought and meditation, he decided to go to Massage Therapy

School. At Cortiva Institute for Massage Therapy, his joy for that practice continued to grow and decided

to focus most of his work on the therapeutic aspect of Massage. While Reyes studied, he worked at a

chain BBQ restaurant as a cook, prep cook, and server with a great work ethic. Before Reyes even

graduated, he had taken and passed his boards exam. He graduated from Cortiva on January 21 st , 2018

and is now certified in Swedish, Midfacial Release and Neuromuscular. Since leaving Cortiva, he has

been very passionate about learning more modalities such as Cupping and Kinesiology Taping.

Soon after his graduation he began to search for a job in which he can pursue his passion as a

Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT). He found a job at a local spa in which he still works today. Soon after

he came to find a job here at Spine Ability in which he enjoys helping those who come in as he

implements the knowledge he obtained.
